In Waseca representative previews 2014 Legislative session, John Petersburg writes:
. . .The government is taking too much money from the pockets of Minnesota families. These business-to-business taxes impact jobs, and ultimately result in higher costs for consumers who buy goods and services from companies impacted by these taxes.
There has been a great deal of bipartisan interest in repealing these taxes, so I hope that we’re able to get that done for Minnesota families when the legislature returns in February. . .
Petersburg appears to have violated a long-standing discourse convention strictly observed by copywriters for state legislators in both parties: prefacing references to taxpayers and families as "hardworking."
Bluestem salutes Representative Petersburg for his adjectival restraint. The modifier is seriously tired.
