Gruenhagen's campaign chair & candidate for HD47 circulates awful DVD about anti-bullying bill

With HD 47A Representative Ernie Liediger (R-Mayer) retiring after this session, Waconia Mayor and soccer dad Jim Nash and Norwood-Young America traffic light manufacturer Bob Frey.

According to a source in the district, Frey is distributing a DVD that contains "Sodomy, Health, Money, and HF826," a video created by the Pro-Marriage Amendment Forum. The unnamed narrator of the video claims that the anti-bullying bill now being considered by the Minnesota legislature is part of a plot by elites to infect school children with AIDS so that doctors and drug companies can profit from their suffering.

Long an associate of anti-sodomy crusader Representative Glenn Gruenhagen, Frey serves as Gruenhagen's campaign committee chair. Gruenhagen and Frey led Citizens For Academic Excellence, a group that fretted about historical documents being altered and the evils of school-to-work, multiculturalism, diversity and violence prevention.

His son Mike Frey, pastor of the Northern Light Baptist Church, serves as Frey's campaign committee chair; the pastor testified against marriage equality last year in testimony called "outrageously inaccurate" by the Huffington Post.

According to a press release issued by Bob Frey of Norwood Young America last week, if elected to represent District 47A in the Minnesota House of Representatives, Frey intends to dedicate himself to ensure Carver County continues to be represented by a candidate with conservative values.

Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Frey graduated from the University of Minnesota, where he met his wife, Kristi. He launched his business in 1981, Frey Manufacturing, a leader in manufacturing transportation equipment, and electrical power designs for industrial, commercial, and international solar projects. His wife’s family has owned property in Carver County since the 1950s that is still in the family today.

The Freys purchased a farm in Carver County in 1991 and have enjoyed raising their five children in the county ever since. Frey has been a volunteer deputy sheriff for Carver County since 1992. His family has been active in 4-H, politics, campaigns and many other organizations serving the county and state.
Frey is a lifelong conservative Republican who has been active in party politics for over 20 years, and has argued for accountability and limitations in government at all levels. He believes in God-given inalienable rights to individuals, freedom with the responsibility to protect it, a Constitutional Republic form of government, the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of Minnesota, and the Republican Platform.

“There are assaults taking place on our children, families, and businesses, by the progressive left that needs to stop. It’s time for me to elevate the fight and do my part for Carver County and my family,” said Frey, who has set up a website (www.BobFreyMN.com) regarding his candidacy.

That's the official story. A little digging turns up Frey's deep roots in the anti-LGBT right in Minnesota.

Pro-Marriage Amendment Forum video: "Sodomy, Health, Money, and HF826"

Bluestem has been sent a video file of "Sodomy, Health, Money, and HF826," created by the Pro-Marriage Amendment Forum. The PMA Forum is a group created in 2012 by representative Gruenhagen and his "ex-gay" gay friend Kevin Petersen.

According to our source, who lives in the district, candidate Bob Frey is distributing a PMA Forum DVD that repeats much of the same content against "sodomy" from Mike Frey's.

In the forty-minute video, the speaker repeats many claims from Mike Frey's 2013 testimony to the (see below) about the messy mechanics of "sodomy" and the menace he perceived stemming from it, then moves to accusations that the anti-bullying bill is part of a plot on the part of "elites" to promote infect children with AIDS for the profit of doctors and the drug industry.

At 26:01, the narrator says (and departs slightly from the text on the screen):

Gay marriage or Sexual Orientation is not about gays, bi's, heterosexuals, marriage, right, wrong, etc., that is just a diversion. It is deceitful and most cases a downright lie.

It is about legalizing sodomy, causing avoidable pain, suffering and death, and financial ruin, [departs from printed text] while making the elite doctors, lawyers, pharmaceutical companies rich [returns to text]. . . .It is a public health assault by the elite to the unsuspecting public to reprogram the public under the Affordable Health Care Act [departs from text] commonly known as [returns to text] Obama Care.

Around the 28:11 point, the narrator says:

Do we give our precious gifts of children, freedom and responsibility to the elite and world powers? The Common Core standards are corrupt in every subject. . .

...Even a few years ago, how many parents thought sodomy would be legalized and mandated to be taught it is a safe, normal sexual behavior? However horrible you may think things are, the situation is much, much worse. in the name of health, children are systematically being reprogrammed and stolen from you to serve the government, the rich, and elite. Only you can stop this assault. The children and your freedom are at stake...

. . . If Minnesota legalizes the gay agenda and lifestyle, it is equal to legalizing sodomy and the taxpayers are going to pay for it. It will shift money from public necessities and services to paying the elite under the guise of healthcare.

It's the paranoid style in American politics at its finest.

Frey's political pals and family

Last year, Waconia pastor Mike Frey's testimony against the marriage equality bill made national headlines. Huffington Post reported in Mike Frey, Minnesota Resident, Gives Outrageously Inaccurate Testimony Against Gay Marriage (VIDEO):

A Minnesota resident speaking before the House Civil Law Committee offered a shockingly inaccurate testimony in an attempt to thwart the approval of same-sex marriage in the state.

Mike Frey, a "concerned" father and husband, spoke in front of the committee on Tuesday and cited Minnesota's sodomy law, struck down in 2001, which defined sodomy as both anal and oral sex. He attempted to argue that gay sex poses a danger to citizens of the state because it results in the spread of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

He claimed that heterosexual sex could be safer because the vagina has a "barrier of cellular tissue that doesn't allow the sperm ... to penetrate the blood flow," but anal sex doesn't have such protections. . . .

Out of the 34 million adults living with HIV/AIDS around the world, approximately half are women, according to international HIV/AIDS charity AVERT. "Generally women are at a greater risk of heterosexual transmission of HIV. Biologically women are twice more likely to become infected with HIV through unprotected heterosexual intercourse than men," AVERT explains.

Although statistics on transmission of the disease in the U.S. show more infection diagnoses in the category of male-to-male sexual contact, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Women's Health states that women are particularly vulnerable to infection because of the surface area of the vagina open to exposure and because of the duration semen can stay in the vagina.

Unprotected anal sex is risky for both males and females, according to the Centers for Disease Control, as this is a sexual activity practiced by both gay and heterosexual couples. The same is true for oral sex. . . .

City Pages linked the younger Frey to a Carver County Church in Mike Frey, outrageous anti-gay testifier, is pastor at Baptist church in Waconia, and Bluestem connected the church that planted Frey in the Waconia congregation to anti-marriage equality campaigns in Church that planted Mike Frey in Waconia gave $5,000 to MFC Marriage Protection Fund in 2012.
