The Uptake has pulled more fascinating video from the Minnesota House floor debate on the final version of the anti-bullying debate.
While Bluestem is certain that both individuals truly care about children, their characterization of supporters of the anti-bullying bill seems to be informed by a spirit of less-than-Christian charity.
The Uptake's Mike McIntee writes of Alexandria Republican Mary Franson's floor statement:
Minnesota style fascism is how Representative Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) characterizes an anti-bullying bill being debated in the Minnesota House. She also says the bill is an "attack on the bible and conservative Christians."
Despite that Christian focus, Benson closes with an analogy drawn from the Hollywood sci-fi thriller, The Matrix. It's a hybrid of culture war and pop culture.
Here's the video:
As for unsuccessful MNCD1 Republican candidate and conservative religious Crossroad College administrator Mike Benson (Rochester), McIntee observes:
Representative Mike Benson (R-Rochester) says an anti-bullying bill will have a "chilling effect" on religious free speech and it is being pushed by a "radical special interest group" called OutFront Minnesota. OutFront Minnesota is one of several LGBT groups supporting the legislation and worked to defeat a Republican backed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Minnesota.
