When Bluestem last wrote about hog baron Protein Systems Chief Financial Officer and Republican Party of Minnesota State Treasurer Bron Scherer, his firm's headquarter in sunny Mapleton was sporting yard signs for two then-not-endorsed candidates, Marty Seifert and Jim Hagedorn.
Primary voters sent Seifert to the dustbin of history--or at least back to Marshall, Minnesota--while Southern Minnesotans shocked the world by picking two-time candidate Jim Hagedorn over newbie Aaron Miller, the candidate endorsed by the MN01 convention in the Spring.
But before voters re-animated the dreams of Mr. Conservative in MN01, Scherer tweeted about "walkers" in his Northfield, MN neighborhood, while yearning for that emblem of North American inclusivity, the gated community:
Walkers.... Al Franken walkers spotted in my neighborhood. Time to add gates to our community.
— Bron Scherer (@bronjs) July 26, 2014
While one supposes that doorknockers and canvassers can be called "walkers," we doubt he meant that or the Governor of Wisconsin.
So while MPR reported on Jim Hagedorn's good old fashioned retail doorknocking in the First, his highest-ranking supporter in the state party brass had a johnson for preventing other Minnesotans from doing the same in his Northfield neighborhood, tucked away between the golf course and parks.
But of course, he's only joking we're sure. On the other hand, there is that cemetery across the greens.
