Never mind that three-term state representative Andrew Falk (DFL, Murdock) was defeated in the November 4 election.
Or that he helped pay back the schools, fund a surperweed research center to help farmers, raised the minimum wage, voted for free all-day kindergarten, co-sponsored the Women's Economic Security Act, secured funding for the Montevideo levee or other such things.
Or that his family runs a successful seed company that creates jobs in west central Minnesota.
Allen Saunders, a Republican activist and former Swift County GOP chair from the Benson area, shares his fears about Falk in a short letter to the editor of the West Central Tribune.
"The damage wrought by Falk" isn't published online at the paper, so we post it here. Mostly, it seems to be about marriage equality:
The damage Andrew Falk did to his district and the state of Minnesota can't only be measured in the loss of jobs, business opportunities and the personal income that is so critical to our schools, hospitals and families.
His influence in undermining the moral fabric that is so critical to a strong and healthy culture will live on even after his removal from office.
Hard-working Minnesotans voted for more than change, they voted for a strong future for their children and grandchildren.
Silly us: we thought it was the big bucks flowing into the district from negative independent expenditures on both sides that depressed the DFL vote that did it, as we wrote in Anatomy of a defeat: West Central Tribune looks at money, mail & negative messaging in MN17A.
We looked at the sort of leadership folks like Saunders endorsed and elected in an earlier post, Will Tim Miller's anti-equality views take root in the Minnesota House GOP majority caucus?

Does Saunders not read the papers? The unemployment rate in Minnesota is one of the lowest in the Nation. We now have a billion dollar surplus, not because we over taxed the residents, but because our state's economy is so good.
Instead of us judging whether the marriage amendment is right or wrong, we should let God determine that on judgement day. We should maybe just love our neighbors and work together for a better nation.
