In Saturday's West Central Tribune, David Little reports in Willmar native begins his work as first full-time chairman of Met Council:
Willmar native Adam Duininck said congratulatory calls and emails from family members and friends on his appointment by Gov. Mark Dayton as the first full-time chair of the Metropolitan Council have been very encouraging.
“It’s actually been touching to see comments on my Facebook page from friends back in Willmar, some that are still there, some I grew up with,’’ said Duininck, a 1999 Willmar Senior High School graduate and member of a longtime area family in the road construction business.
“Two things stick out. A couple of my family members in the Duininck Construction Company called and texted me and said congratulations. ‘We’re so proud of you. It means a lot for you to carry our name,’ ’’ Duininck said. . . .
Duininck Incorporated is headquartered in Prinsburg, Minnesota; in addition to construction, the company operates concrete, and golf course divisions; the full portfolio of Duininck Companies also include InHarvest wild rice, Prinsco tile, and other lines.
We could have sworn the dude was from Blomkest, but what do we know. Prior to being appointed chair by the governor, Duininck served as the executive director of WIN Minnesota, a super PAC which funded the state's progressive machine. (Federal PAC here, while 2014 state reports are here). Before joining WIN Minnesota, he worked as the legislative and political director for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49. Duininck is married to Jaime Tincher, who is Governor Dayton's Chief of Staff.
It's nice to see one of those Duininck kids make something of himself in the big city.
