Last cycle, the National Republican Congressional Committee totally tried to create a fresh new brand for state senator Torrey Westrom as the Man Who Never Lost An Election with the placement of articles like the National Review piece, Torrey Westrom’s Advantage.
Incumbent conservative Blue Dog Democratic Congress Collin Peterson grabbed that meme by the scruff of the neck and shook it dead last November, defeating the invincible Westrom by 54 percent to 46 percent.
Via the West Central Tribune, Grace Lyden of the Forum New Service reports in U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson to run for 14th term in 2016:
“They energized me last time, they got me fired up,” the Minneapolis Star-Tribune quoted Peterson as saying.
The National Republican Congressional Committee seized on that statement, saying it showed Peterson was running for re-election because of his personal animosity for his political opponents.
“Peterson’s jaw-dropping cynicism is worthy of a cameo in ‘House of Cards,’ and hardworking Minnesota families deserve better,” NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter said in a statement.
We don't believe that the "they" Peterson mentioned is Torrey Westrom, whom we're sure is only one person, but rather the DC-based political operatives who pump out rhetoric like that.
But it's definitely a step up from the Minnesota Nice and plane-based ads.
Photo: A still from House of Cards. Only the Beltway-based NRCC would confuse this show with Collin Peterson and Minnesota's Seventh District.

Some times you really have to wonder how these party spokespeople even keep a straight face when spewing their nonsense. Oh, and in this particular case, there are a goodly number of folks who might read that and say "House of what?"
