At the Strib's Hot Dish Politics Blog, J. Patrick Coolican reports in MPCA's John Linc Stine writes sharply worded letter to Rep. Denny McNamara:
The commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has written a sharply worded letter to the Republican chairman of the House Environment Committee, laying out a series of objections to environment legislation unveiled this week.
Rep. Denny McNamara's bill funds key environment agencies while also making significant policy changes to the way Minnesota protects its air, water and land. . .
Stine's letter details problems related to fiscal issues, the Governor's initiatives and policy, including stripping the powers of the Citizens Board of the MPCA, lowering water standards for wild rice and requiring legislative review of water quality standards.
Here's the letter:
The letter is also addressed to minority lead Rick Hansen (DFL-South St. Paul) as a matter of form, but like Coolican, Bluestem doesn't hold Hansen responsible for this hot mess of an omnibus bill.
Screengrab: Representative Denny McNamara. The MPCA commissioner is not impressed.
