According Scott Tedricks' article in the Granite Falls Advocate Tribune, Legislative session not so good to Greater Minn:
. . . [Senator Gary] Dahms [R-Redwood Falls] championed the passage of a $138 million bill that looks to bring relief to rural nursing homes, but other than that there was little to point to of great significance for outstate Minnesota––including what appeared to be a token approximately $10 and $12.5 million legislative appropriation for rural broadband and transportation for cities under 5,000, respectively.
Mayor Dave Smiglewski, on the other hand shot down the impact of the $12.5 million in transportation funds, noting that while everything helps, the roughly $38,000 that the city would receive isn’t much when considering the cost of road projects. “It paves about a third of a block,” he said.
On the other hand, perhaps he's fortunate that Tim Kelly didn't just earmark $2 million of the appropriation for the City of Annandale, as was done with the broadband money.

Why don't the more affluent exurban folks among Annandale's residents (median income $53,000 plus) create their own municipal broadband using their own money? That would fit in with Daudt's vision of cutting off the "moochers" from taking more state money, wouldn't it?
I'm sure that they could 65% of their residents to vote for it, right?
