The West Central Tribune and supporters of the drive to recall controversial Willmar City Council member Ron Christianson are reporting online that the Recall Ron Christianson campaign has delivered a petition to the west central Minnesota regional center's city hall.
In a breaking news brief, Willmar's Recall Ron Committee submits petition to recall City Council member Christianson, Tribune staff writer David Little reports:
Members of the Recall Ron Committee exceeded the 25 percent signature threshold with about 900 signatures and beat the 90-day filing deadline when they filed the petition this morning at Willmar City Offices calling for the recall of Second Ward City Council member Ron Christianson.
In an email to Bluestem, Willmar resident and Christianson's opponent in the 2014 council race Steve Gardner writes:
The Recall Ron Committee presented 899 signatures to the City Clerk this morning demanding the recall of Councilmember Ron Christianson.
That is approximately 20 percent more signatures than was anticipated to be required. The signatures were presented with ten days still to go in the allotted time for gathering signatures.
