The Cannon Falls Beacon reports in CCARL to meet January 7:
A meeting of CCARL (Citizens Concerned About Rail Line) will be held in Kenyon on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the Kenyon High School, Commons Area. CCARL, as part of this upcoming January meeting, is hosting a public outreach presentation by MnDOT on their State-wide Multimodal Transportation Plan and the 20-year MN State Highway Investment Plan.
CCARL is a coalition (and Facebook page) of school districts, cities, towns, rescue workers, farmers, businesses, and home owners who live in the communities who will be impacted by the building of the proposed Zip Rail, a high-speed, nonstop train between the Twin Cities and Rochester. This group was formed to improve communications, share information, and work with elected officials to save communities and tax dollars.
CCARL has regular meetings on the first Thursday of every month from 6-8 p.m. with locations varying along the Hwy. 52 and Hwy. 56 proposed alternative Zip Rail corridors.

planning/smtp-mnship/index. html) Here is a little about each of the 2 plans from the MnDOT website:
The Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan (SMTP) is part of MnDOT’s Family of Plans, which stem from the Minnesota GO 50-year Vision. The Vision outlines what Minnesotans desire from the state’s transportation system and identifies key guiding principles that MnDOT should strive to achieve. The SMTP is State’s highest level plan. It translates the Vision into general policy direction for MnDOT and other transportation partners. The policy direction from the SMTP guides the development of system investment plans, the next layer of planning in the Family of Plans.
minnesotago/SMTP.html) The 20-Year Minnesota State Highway Investment Plan supports the guiding principles from the Minnesota GO Vision and links the policies and strategies laid out in the Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan to improvements on the state highway system. The state highway system is a network of roads that includes interstates, U.S. highways, and state highways. MnDOT maintains the state’s 12,000-mile highway system. MnSHIP will guide future capital improvements on Minnesota’sstate highway system over the next twenty years.
