Third in a series of three posts, including LCCMR debate, part 1: Flanagan says wild rice unites MN; Heintzeman says no changing my bill! and LCCMR debate, part 2: Pat Garofalo trashes notion of solar and robotics in agriculture.
Yesterday's Minnesota House floor debate on funding LCCMR (Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources) recommendations is summarized in Session Daily's Lottery proceeds for LCCMR projects gets House approval.
Watching the YouTube of the debate reveals a target rich environment, and we've put together posts illustrating a point made by Rep. Rick Hansen:
Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South St. Paul) said appropriations from the environment trust fund “always seem to get tinkered with” and that projects involving solar power, climate change or prohibitions on lead, “always come out of the package” when Republicans have the majority. He asked fellow lawmakers to vote against the bill so sponsors could “start over.”
It's spring in Minnesota, the wood ticks are out in force, and Minnesota state representative Glenn Gruenhagen, R-Glencoe, has once more taken to the floor of the Minnesota House to condemn what he calls a United Nations "scam," the notion of climate change. He was due his biennial denier tirade.
Gruenhagen was replying to an amendment by representative Davd Bly, DFL-Northfield, to restore LCCMR-recommended funding for a study of local climate change data from across Minnesota. The data must come from many points across the state since Minnesotans enjoy different climate conditions in different regions.
Here are Bly's remarks about the amendment, intended to help gather and assess information that will help farmers and communities make better choices (the Youtube will scroll forward quickly to begin at Bly's remarks):
Climate change denier Gruenhagen was having none of this helpful data analysis. This outburst could be predicted analyzing data in our posts from 2013: Glenn Gruenhagen so wants voters to trust industry-funded climate change denial website and Michele Bachmann & Glenn Gruenhagen only MN lawmakers to sign AFP No Climate Tax Pledge; from 2015, Is Gruenhagen changing his tune on climate change? Check out expert he shared with voters and Of the eve of Paris climate talks, Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen shares another favorite denier canard.
Here's Gruenhagen's latest, with the best part being the looks on freshman Republican representative Keith Franke's face as he listens to Gruenhagen speak.
Gruenhagen claims that scientists lies about their data in order to get federal government grants and calls them "climate liars." Here's Glenn (the Youtube will scroll forward quickly to begin at Gruenhagen's remarks):
