UPDATE MARCH 27: In the Grand Forks Herald article, Increased gas tax could place strain on rural Minnesotans, Republican legislators say, Emily Allen reports:
"It really seems like it's 'One Minnesota' being dictated from St. Paul and telling us how we need to operate in rural Minnesota," said Sen. Mark Johnson, R-East Grand Forks.
Johnson was joined by Reps. Deb Kiel, R-Crookston, and Dan Fabian, R-Roseau, for a Facebook live event Wednesday afternoon to discuss their concerns with Walz's budget and various bills in the Minnesota Legislature. . . .
As Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz, people come and go so quickly here. We're curious why the two state legislators decided to return to the original plan. [END UPDATE]
Posted Monday on the online version of the Crookston Times we read in Minnesota Legislature - Facebook town hall will feature only District 1 State Sen. Johnson:
Kiel and Fabian will not participate
District 1 State Senator Mark Johnson (R-East Grand Forks) will host a “Facebook town hall” on Wednesday, March 27 from 12:10 to 1 p.m.
The Senate Republican Caucus initially announced last week that District 1B State Rep. Deb Kiel (R-Crookston) and District 1A State Rep. Dan Fabian (R-Roseau) would participate in the event as well, but they will not be.
Johnson will open the Facebook town hall meeting with a brief presentation on the current legislative session, followed by a time for audience comments and questions.
Participants need to do is click the link to watch: https://www.facebook.com/Senator.Mark.Johnson/ Constituents who can’t watch live can view it on Johnson’s page after the event.
Questions can be directed to Ryan Johnson, legislative assistant to Johnson at (651) 296-8660 or at Ryan.Johnson@senate.mn, or submitted live in the Facebook feed.
The original story, Minnesota Legislature - Kiel, Johnson, Fabian will host Facebook town hall March 27, ran online on March 22.
However, constituents wanting to get a glimpse of Fabian and Kiel online need not be disappointed. According to the latest Minnesota House Television Webcast and Mobile Streaming Schedule, the lower chamber will convene at 12 noon to watch House District 11B Rep.-Elect Nathan Nelson, R-Hinckley, get sworn into office.
The House often convenes briefly on Wednesdays at noon, so Bluestem has no idea what the Senate schedulers were thinking.
