UPDATE March 30: Representative Hansen sent Bluestem a copy of the resolutions while we were working on this post. Our apologies for not posting the document with the rest of the information. The document notes that it was originally considered and earlier in March: "Resolution approved at joint meeting of the WJ McCabe Chapter IWLA Board of Directors and
Conservation Issues Committee Tuesday March 12th , 2019."

Via S. St. Paul state representative and Minnesota House Environment and Natural Resources Revenue Division Chair Rick Hansen's Facebook page, we learn that the Minnesota Division of the Izaak Walton League of America adopted the following resolutions at its annual meeting:
Given the serious nature of CWD-- the Minnesota Division of the Izaak Walton League of America resolves:
· Minnesota shall immediately prohibit the movement of private captive game farm animals intra or inter-state for any reason. That shall include blood, urine, semen and products made from glands.
· Immediately ban any new captive deer farms.
· Immediately proceed to close all existing captive deer farms.
· Provide a buy-out of all existing private captive deer farms funded in part by .50 cents fee as an add on to all deer hunting licenses.
· Ban deer feeding in Minnesota to reduce animal concentrations.
· Prohibit food plots on all lands in Minnesota to reduce animal concentrations.
· Eliminate Antler Point Restriction (APR), a deer management strategy that produces more large older deer which are more prone to carry CWD.
· Manage deer hunting seasons to keep deer densities relatively low to reduce animal crowding.
Hansen was a speaker at the Minnesota Division of the Izaak Walton League of America’s Watershed Summit 2019 last weekend at Normandale Community College.
Hansen's presentation came one day after the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced confirmed a second CWD-positive wild deer in Winona County:
We'll be posting several more CWD-related posts tonight and tomorrow morning, including a look at an amendment to an ag-related bill that was discussed in the Minnesota House Ag and Food Policy and Finance Division.
