Bluestem apologizes to our readers for an unanticipated Memorial Day hiatus, a holiday that's particularly embarrassing given Friday's special session of the Minnesota legislature.
We'll be back this evening with some reflections on that and the results of the regular session, along with news of our new favorite Republican politician, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. According to the latest news report, State asking for interest in fencing S.D. Governor's mansion, concerns about her safety exist.
We will investigate whether the concern is over pipeline protesters and out-of-state "riot boosters," lawyers serving papers, or angry badgers.
Our weekend was spent visiting a veteran's grave, mowing lawns after weeks of rain and more rain, and tilling and planting our vegetable gardens so late that I suspect I've become my own grandma , who never put her tomato plants in before what she persisted in calling "Decoration Day."
It's a matter of soil temperature and save for this cold, wet spring after an extremely snowy and cold winter, northern gardeners have come to put tomatoes in closer to Mother's Day. Not this year. Not this year.
We'll be back this evening with new posts.
