UPDATE 2/5, 1:15 p.m.: We received a call from Republican Party of Minnesota Chair Jennifer Carnahan about the inclusion of her address in this post, as she has received threats in the past (see this KARE-11 story) and asked that we redact the address; we agreed to remove the apartment number to protect her safety, but since the street address was shared by her in the invitations included here, Bluestem is not the original publisher of that information.
Update February 6: we've redacted the street address, though it is retained in the original filing online at the Campaign Finance Board. [end update].
Carnahan said that the information on the report is incorrect and an amended report is being prepared to submit to the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board. We shared with her that the original reports remain on the Board's website.
We also mentioned to her the recent Ricardo Lopez story in the Minnesota Reformer, Women mayors twice as likely than men to face online abuse, threats of violence. Minnesota not-nice is real.
We have blotted out the unit number, although it is part of the public report published online.
Carnahan will be sending a statement to Bluestem, ETA this evening, about the report and this coverage. We will post it at the bottom of this post. [Update #2, 2/6/2020, 8:38 a.m.: we have not yet received this email from RPM Chair Carnahan. [end update #2 ] [Update #3 The email is posted below, and we've redacted Carnahan's street address].
As we said below, do not bother her and her husband in this home. Don't threat anyone, period. [end update].
Looking at the 2019 Year End Report for the Republican Party of Minnesota (click on link here), we were startled to see the Individual contributions reported in the screengrab above. It's found on page 4 of the 28 pdf on file at the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board.
No, it's not Hubbard Broadcasting executive Stanley Hubbard's dollars, which are decidedly not news. We including Hubbard's name in order to show where the "James, Hagedorn" contributions are situated. This isn't the only place in the report where first names are in the place of last names in the receipts columns.
We believe that Hagedorn James isn't "self-employed." Instead, he's employed by citizens in southern Minnesota's First Congressional District as their United States Representative. Oops.
As for the St. Louis Park address, we believe that this is Hagedorn's wife's address. the 2018 Kickoff of Jennifer Zielinski's Campaign for US Congress, CD5 notes:
Jen's campaign for US Congress in the 5th Congressional District is officially starting and we are kicking it off in style at the brand-new Central Park West in chic West End. So come join your friends as we get this Grand Old Party started!
Catering by Byerly's: delicious crab cakes, fresh sushi, scrumptious stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, decadent cheesecake and many more awesome delights! With plenty of wine and an open bar, we guarantee a good time to be had by all!
Senate candidate Jim Newberger and Secretary of State candidate John Howe will be there too! Thanks to our hosts, MNGOP Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan, National Committeeman Rick Rice. Elephant Club Co-chair Jennifer Larson and Anton Lazzaro.

We've redacted Carnahan's personal email address and ask readers not to bother her or James, Hagedorn at their home in St. Louis Park.
In any event, they're moving. William Bornhoft reported in early January's Republican Chairwoman Says She Can't Wait To Leave St. Louis Park:
There's one St. Louis Park resident who can't wait to leave. Jennifer Carnahan, the chairwoman of the Minnesota Republican Party, says she's excited to move out in May.
At the center of her desire to leave is the city's progressive politics. St. Louis Park recently voted to ban sale of vaping products and e-cigarettes. . . .

The reporting is an entertaining wrinkle, given the insistence of Hagedorn's supporters that he's the candidate with deep roots in his district, while that Democratic scamp and veteran Dan Feehan is but a johnny-come-lately living in North Mankato. While pages about Hagedorn on his campaign page and official site don't note a city of residence, we have it on good authority that Congressman Hagedorn rents a house in Faribault County's Blue Earth. Wikipedia confirms our source's information.
Reading the Republican Party of Minnesota's campaign finance report reminded us of a recent letter by Aaron Farris, a member of the Freeborn County Republican Party in the Albert Lea Journal, My Point of View: Feehan needs to be clear about residency, where he gets scoldy about letter to the editors in the district from Woodbury.
We do not know if Mr. Farris was ever concerned about former CD2 congressman Jason Lewis living in Woodbury, in CD4, though now that Lewis has discovered the forgotten men and women in rural Minnesota via his senate bid (more on that in a post later today), that might not be an issue. It was pretty entertaining during the 2018 election, when Talking Points Memo reported GOP Rep. Jason Lewis Filmed Himself Canvassing Voters … Outside His District.
Will Carnahan move to the Fighting First and make her husband an honest man? We hear there are pretty nice places in CD1. In the meantime, perhaps the RPM can amend its year-end report and let folks know that James, Hagedorn isn't self-employed.
Unless this is some miraculous self-own, as the Minnesota GOP may know more about James, Hagedorn than we do. It's not illegal for United States Representatives to live outside of their districts, so long as they maintain a residence in the state where the district is located.
[Update: February 6]The email from Jennifer Carnahan:
Thank you for taking the time to connect yesterday and removing my apartment number.
I know we discussed and you felt because my address was published other places (FB invites), that you would leave it. But, I’d respectfully ask you to reconsider. It’s quite different, in my opinion, to host a private event for 20 people as the President of the Syracuse Alumni Club and for a candidate to host an event that also goes to a core group of fellow Republicans; versus publishing it in a media outlet. I hope that makes sense, and again, for my safety and security, ask for that consideration.
The book-keeping error referenced by your publication has been amended by the MNGOP. Jim Hagedorn lives in Blue Earth, where he has resided for many years, and does not live with me in St. Louis Park.
We have removed the street address from this post and added a screengrab from Amendment #1 under the image from the original report; both reports are online here, along with Amendment #2. Amendment #2 does not include any contribution from Congressman Hagedorn.
