As we creep across the news and conservative social media, we see complaints about the Evil Metro pursuing their Evil Metro Agenda.
But in Wednesday's New Ulm Journal, staff member Fritz Busch reports in Republicans, Democrats caucus at SEPS, that Brown County Republicans in the Sleepy Eye area have resolved to save the state from everything from CNN playing on monitors in taxpayer-funded institutions to completely partisan votes:
Approved Republican caucus resolutions included:
* Not considering a legislative vote without at least one vote from the dissenting party.
* Requiring taxpayer-funded institutions like airports broadcasting Fox News in addition to CNN news. . . .
* Opposing social justice instruction in school literature.
* Opposing comprehensive sex education.
* Opposing Drag Queen Story Hour in publicly-funded facilities or allowing Drag Queen events targeted at minors. . . .
We're curious how the first resolution would be implemented. Would whip counts supplant roll call votes? We also wonder who would fund the Cable News police. The rest of the oddball parts of the agenda seems ripped from the webpages of the Child Protection League.
Sure, there's some concern in other resolutions for staples like the Second Amendment, abortion and "road and bridge funding including upgrading U.S. Highway 14," but the Media, Whip, and Drag Queen Police are something else.
As for the dirty hippies of Sleepy Eye-area Democrats, Busch reports they're resolved about these matters:
Approved caucus DFL resolutions included urging the Minnesota Legislature and Gov. Tim Walz support:
* Rural economic development and high-paying clean energy jobs.
* Covering finance origination fees for distressed family farms seeking USDA Farm Service Agency loans.
* University of Minnesota Forever Green newly-developed cover crops.
* Recognizing only the national popular vote for president.
* An equitable, public education funding formula.
* Border to border broadband Internet.
* Support and encourage traditional family farming.
* Increased fine and performing arts funding.
* Increased SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) formerly known as food stamps, a federal entitlement program.
How scary and Metrocentric is that? We suspect that the dissenting party might even be able to get Republican votes on that Forever Green, broadband,high-paying jobs and family farm stuff.
UPDATE: At the Wadena Pioneer Journal, staffers report in Caucus crowds band together in Wadena County:
At the Wadena Pizza Ranch, 37 Republican community members from Wadena township and precincts 1-3 and Leaf River precincts 1-2 selected delegates and discussed the resolutions of opposing comprehensive sex education, opposing drag queen story hours and opposing social justice indoctrination in school literature.
Yep, sounds like the Child Protection League sent out resolutions. [end update]
