On Saturday, Minnesota Senator Majority Leader Paul Gazelka posted a Facebook video of himself shooting what looks to be one of those contemporary hunting rifles. Ben Dorr, Executive Director of Minnesota Gun Rights, responded with a screengrab of the Nisswa Republican rebranded as "Mr. Rogers."
The exchange followed the DFL majority House [passing] firearm-removal request measure and House [okaying] contentious gun background check bill on Thursday.
The exchange marks the latest high-profile rumble on the right between the Republican Party of Minnesota, the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus and the Minnesota House Republican Caucus that Bluestem Prairie first reported in Who owns Trump brand in MN?: MN GOP, #mnleg caucuses' battle Dorr Bros, MAGAsota "scams" on new website; MAGASota fights back.
Readers can visit the RPM, SRC and HRC site, Minnesota Scammers Exposed here.
While MAGASOTA is a separate grassroots self-described movement. An Alpha News staff report,Tensions Flare after MNGOP Calls Pro Trump MAGASOTA a Scam, posted on February 25, after Bluestem's coverage, appears sympathetic to the independent conservative activists in MAGASOTA, but says little about the Dorr Brother groups.
The Dorr brothers have long been aggressive critics of party Republicans and other gun rights groups in Minnesota. The Dorr brothers recently created a pro-life group that scorns Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life and Republican lawmakers, as we reported on February 2 in Dorr family expands brand: adds scaring abortion foes about GOP to gun rights stories.
Here's the Gazelka clip:
Ben Dorr's response:
This doesn't seem to be the first time Gazelka's been attacked by Minnesota Gun Rights. In Gun rights group is targeting Gazelka, a letter to the editor of the Morrison County Record published last February, reader Joyce Heffron of Little Falls wrote:
This is in response to the letter printed last week about Paul Gazelka. Where did the writer get his information? Sen. Gazelka has never supported gun control legislation. Check his voting record for the truth.
Minnesota was the only Republican-controlled state last year that did no new gun control legislation. You can thank Sen. Gazelka and the Senate. Look at his ratings with the NRA and the Minnesota Gun Owners. He was endorsed by them. They stand by him. Sen. Gazelka also is a hunter and gun owner himself.
But Sen. Gazelka is a leader, the Senate Majority Leader. He listens to all his constituents, even if he doesn’t always agree with them. Because he listens to both sides doesn’t mean he will change his values.
A different gun rights group has targeted Sen. Gazelka and constant untruths have been spread about him. The truth is that Sen. Gazelka is a conservative who supports our 2nd Amendment. He has not waivered in that despite the lies that have been told. He has always stood for our Constitution.
He is a strong leader who fights for our rights. Look at his record. He can be trusted.
We haven't found the older letter, but will add the link when we locate it. Heffron is a Republican activist who has served as Morrison County Republican Chair and as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.
This rumble is certainly putting the mess in messaging for the right. Pro-tip: perhaps it's best to not bring Mr. Rogers or his catchphrase to a gun fight.

It's pretty funny that Little Ben is thumping his chest about being in Gazelka's head.
It was clear that Gazelka was trolling him, and Big Mouth Benny Bass bit it hook line and sinker.
