Earlier today, we posted While House works on LCCMR bill, Senate Enviro chair says nope, save funds for deficit next year, which included the Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen Letter to Rick Hansen on 2020 LCCMR bill (letter embedded after the Minnesota Environmental Partnership statement)
Via email, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership has issued a statement reacting to the Minnesota Senate plan:
Yesterday, Representative Rick Hansen, Chair of the House Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division, shared a letter from Senate Environment and Natural Resources Finance Chair Bill Ingebrigtsen indicating the intention of the Minnesota Senate not to appropriate funds from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund this year.
Steve Morse, Executive Director of the Minnesota Environmental Partnership, stated, "In this time of crisis it would be very unfortunate if the Senate denies funding to these important projects across the entire state. These projects have gone through a long competitive process to be selected. They are not only critical to the natural resources of our state, but also for the many local economies that they will affect."
Morse continued, "If these funds are not appropriated this session for the next fiscal year, it is directly contrary to the express will of the public who has overwhelmingly voted to approve the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund three times."
