We're a bit tardy in sharing this informative news brief by the Minnesota Reformer's Ricardo Lopez, but believe that readers in Southern Minnesota will appreciate this new wrinkle in Congressman Hagedorn's staffing.
Hagedorn appoints new chief of staff, former top aide to former HHS secretary Tom Price
U.S. Rep. Jim Hagedorn has appointed a Capitol Hill stalwart to be his his chief of staff as he prepares to start a second term.
Hagedorn fired his previous chief of staff, Peter Su, last summer after learning Su authorized spending hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on printing vendors owned by a member of Hagedorn’s staff and another owned by Su’s brother, as the Reformer first reported.
Hagedorn’s office on Monday announced the hiring of Kris Skrzycki as his new chief of staff. Skrzycki most recently served in a similar role for the Office of National Drug Control Policy, an executive agency that coordinates U.S. drug policy.
“Kris Skrzycki has a long, distinguished record of promoting and implementing conservative policies and serving as a trusted aide to some of America’s top government officials,” Hagedorn said in a statement. “I am confident Kris will be a valuable addition to our team, and I look forward to working with him on behalf of the people of Minnesota’s First District.”
Skrzycki also previously worked as a deputy chief of staff for former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who resigned in 2017. An investigation by the inspector general of the Department of Health and Human Services found Price had repeatedly violated government travel rules and misspent at least $341,000 on taxpayer-funded chartered jets and military aircraft.
Before joining Price, who became the shortest-serving health and human services secretary in history when he resigned, serving only 231 days in the role, Skrzycki had spent 12 years working for Price in Congress, including six years as his chief of staff.
Well, we'll be a blue-nosed gopher!
