After the post we noticed a tweet by New London City Council Member Erik Hatlestad:

Curious, we asked about the Haaland Resolution and Council Member Hatlestad sent a copy:
Resolution Congratulating Confirmation of Secretary Deb Haaland
WHEREAS, Deb Haaland was confirmed as the United States Secretary of the Interior; and WHEREAS, Secretary Haaland shall be the first Native American Secretary of the Interior; and WHEREAS, New London is located on the ancestral land of the Dakota people; and WHEREAS, Secretary Haaland’s father John David Haaland was born and raised in New London, MN;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the New London City Council congratulates Secretary Haaland on her
confirmation and sends warm regards from the place where her father was born.
As for the St. Patrick's Day support of Irish reunification, Hatlestad noted that it was modeled after an earlier resolution by members of the Connecticutt House of Representatives.
