After listening to Jake Duesenberg's Mort's Caucus of One: Action 4 Liberty interview interview with Erik Mortensen, R-Shakopee,we turned our attention to Mortensen's appearance on Chilling with Redbeard, aka Chad Rafdal.
Who is Redbeard?
Who's Mortensen's host? Rafdal runs Minnesotans4Freedom, a patriots group which is organizing " We The People" meetings across rural Minnesota; we've watched videos from "We The People" gatherings in Waldolf, Owatonna, Rochester and Blooming Prairie with Minnesota House members Jeremy Munson, R-Lake Crystal; John Petersburg, R-Owatonna; Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea; and Patty Mueller, R-Austin.
One recently added Minnesotan4Freedom goal is to build campaigns to grab party endorsement from, or primary, sitting Republicans. Rafdal discussed replacing his state representative in a May 12 Chilling livestream, though her doesn't name Peggy Bennett or get her district number correct.
The Blooming Prairie activist also participating in the January 6 pro-Trump rally in Washington DC, though it doesn't appear that he entered the U.S. Capitol building. Niko Georgiades reported for Unicorn Riot in D.C. Riots: A Look at the Minnesota Contingent:
A majority of those listed have been present at most of the weekly Hold the Line protests in Saint Paul, and many were seen at Back the Blue protests throughout the summer of 2020 and re-open protests in April 2020.
Chad Rafdal, a tall red-bearded Trump supporter from southern Minnesota, went to D.C. and posted his experiences on social media. Rafdal was interviewed by WCCO (CBS) about his trip and after the interview aired, he posted a video to Twitter expressing his frustration with “the haters” that have questioned the interview. He called antifascists the “scum of the Earth” and ended his January 8 video message by saying, “stand up Patriots, it’s time – ‘murica.”
Rafdal streamed to his Facebook blog titled ‘Patriot Adventures with Redbeard and his crazy Wife’ while traveling to D.C. and while at the Capitol building. He continues to post on multiple Twitter accounts with his latest video stating he’s starting a podcast and website.
In the weeks before going to D.C., Rafdal was a consistent attendee of the Stop the Steal and Hold the Line protests. After violence from the right-wing crowd towards a counter-protester in late November, hundreds of anti-fascists started showing up to oppose Hold the Line.
Rafdal was on the front lines of some of the scuffles that happened during the subsequent Saturdays. He also started to post sensitive personal information online of people who showed up to counter-protest, including pictures and names of minors.
While at the Capitol in D.C. on January 6, he said he didn’t enter the building, and that he left after being pepper sprayed by police near an entrance. On January 12, the company that Rafdal worked at announced that he is no longer an employee.
The Rochester Post Bulletin and WCCO also reported about his visit in Red Wing, Blooming Prairie residents took part in Capitol rally that turned violent and Minnesota Trump Supporter Drove To U.S. Capitol To Attend Rally That Turned Violent.
Some highlights
In the interview, Mortensen scolds Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen for not signing pledges. He singles out local Republican state representatives Duane Quam, Bryan, and Patty Mueller, Austin, for not forcing votes on his agenda. Much of the interview is spent blasting the "Incumbent Protection Racket." Daudt wants "Lapdog Legislators" and predicts he himself will be primaried (as he was in 2018 and 2020).
