After the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) approved the Minnesota Center for Prion Research and Outreach's Emerging Issues LCCMR proposal addresses CWD prions at Beltrami deer carcass dump site, Chair Rick Hansen, DFL-South St. Paul, raised the topic of the LCCMR's next meeting.
He suggested June 17, only to hear from Senators Torrey Westrom, R-Elbow Lake, and Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, that the special session, now scheduled for June 14, would last through the end of June.

The key negotiators on the environment bill language are Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, and Rep. Rick Hansen, DFL-South St. Paul. Neither are talking publicly about the status of the talks.
When it comes to environmental issues, there are big partisan divides that are hard to bridge, said DFL House Speaker Melissa Hortman, but she remains optimistic that an agreement will be reached.
“In a policy area where there are big differences of opinion, usually changing from the status quo is not likely to be successful."

In the end, citizen membe Denny McNamara proposed setting a June 17 meeting, that could be delayed should the special session drag on.
