In Minnesota anti-mandate effort promotes national anti-vaxxer at September 26 state capitol rally, we introduced readers to Mark Bishofsky:
The rally is being promoted on the Stop the Mandate MN calendar; the image is branded with the group's URL StoptheMandateMN.org. Stop The Mandate MN describes itself as a grassroots organization. It appears to be affiliated with an effort to fund a lawsuit that would be filed in Minnesota's federal court by Gregory Erickson of Minneapolis law firm Mohrman, Kaardal and Erickson. A FAQ document about the lawsuit is viewable here.
Mark Bishofsky, a respiratory therapist at Stillwater's Lakeview Memorial Hospital who blogs at the Stop The Mandate MN website, appeared on the Stew Peters show with Erickson in August to talk about the efforts to ban vaccine mandates.
That lawsuit appears to be Roe 1 et al v. Allina Health System et al. At the Star Tribune, Andy Mannix reported in More than 180 Minnesota health care workers sue over vaccine mandate:
More than 180 health care workers spanning hospital systems across Minnesota are asking for an injunction to stop their employers from mandating they be vaccinated from COVID-19, saying the directive violates religious freedoms and other state and federal laws.
A lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court includes unnamed plaintiffs from hospitals and clinics across Minnesota and identifies nearly two dozen health care institutions as defendants, along with other federal health officials. Those being sued include some of the state's top health care facilities, such as Mayo Clinic, Fairview Health Services, University of Minnesota Physicians and Regions Hospital. . . .
As the screengrab on the top of this post reveals, organizer Bishofsky raised the question on Facebook of primarying Assistant Senate Majority Leader Karin Housley, R-Stillwater:
Karen Housley is my MN state senator. She has been silent through this whole thing. She will not respond to my calls or emails. I offered her the mic to speak...no response. I got to thinking...what if I ran against her in the primary? Hmmm? Would you support me?
In the comments under the post, the One True Pure Republican Leader, Erik Mortensen, Caucus of One-Shakopee, encouraged this move:
Hell yes! There isn’t one Republican Senator that doesn’t deserve a primary challenger. And you gave a GREAT speech!
Anti-vaxxers defend Housley
Unfortunately for Mort and Mark, the anti-vaxx crowd rose to Housley's defense and one had the receipts in photos of Housley attending "health freedom" rallies at the state capitol. She wrote:
Nope. Senator Housley has supported health freedom her entire time in the legislature and authored bills on our behalf. I would not support anyone opposing her.
Followed by screenshots, including these items:
We're curious what Bishofsky said to Housley to generate this silence, since she does seem to have heeded the call up to rid Minnesota families of the responsibilities of vaccinating their kids before sending them to school.
In the meantime, we suspect many of our readers will be relieved once again that Housley was defeated by Tina Smith in the 2018 special election for United States Senate.
And that the Republican Party's new base is something of a quarrelsome lot about malarky they agree about, especially when the Mort is in the room.
