Minnesota House Environment and Natural Resource Finance and Policy Committee Chair Rick Hansen, DFL-South St. Paul, has shared a letter from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Sarah Strommen to Dr. Beth Thompson, Executive Director of the Minnesota Board of Animal Health.
Read it below. Hansen remarks:
The threat of spread of Chronic Wasting Disease, a fatal neurological disorder that’s threatening Minnesota’s wild white-tailed deer population, requires swift action. Grateful for Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' Commissioner Strommen's leadership on this issue.
Here's the remark and the letter on his official page:
We grew up in Southern Minnesota, where deer hunting was a deep tradition. Living now in a county just over the Minnesota-South Dakota border, on the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation where many of my Dakota neighbors enjoy venison, we're pleased with this letter.
