In late May, we posted in a News digest: SD violates voter registration laws, MN white juries, Watertown's antisemitic rice:
At Watertown Public Opinion, the local paper, Kerry Kulkarni reported on Tuesday in More than 150 pieces of anti-Semitic propaganda strewn throughout Watertown, police say:
At least 50 anti-Semitic flyers have been recovered by the Watertown Police Department and more than double that total have been found by citizens in town since Monday morning, according to information from police.
Around 7 a.m. Monday, the police department was alerted to bags of rice with anti-Semitic propaganda inside strewn throughout neighborhoods in Watertown. The bags were thrown along streets and into driveways, according to police. . . .
Just a month later, Highland Park anti-Semitic flier drop echoes late May leafletting in Watertown, South Dakota.
It's happening again, though the haters have switched from rice to corn to weigh their evil fliers down.
On Tuesday afternoon, Paul Walsh reported in the Star Tribune article, Civil rights group says fliers from 'virulently antisemitic group' showing up all around Twin Cities:
A leading civil rights organization says it has learned of the distribution of troubling fliers in many Twin Cities-area communities from supporters of a "virulently antisemitic group."
The fliers are headlined "Every single aspect of the media is Jewish." They include photos of the CEOs of major entertainment companies with a Star of David added on each of their foreheads.
American Jews running the news and entertainment media is an antisemitic trope that has been promulgated for a century or more.
In a statement Monday, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) for Minnesota and the Dakotas said it has documented the fliers since July 1 in Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Edina, North Oaks, New Brighton, Cottage Grove and Arden Hills.
The JCRC said the fliers have been distributed by supporters of the Goyim Defense League, "a virulently antisemitic group, whose nefarious activities are well documented by the ADL [Anti-Defamation League]." The flier includes a web address where antisemitic videos are posted.
The ADL contends that the Goyim Defense League's mission is to "cast aspersions on Jews and spread antisemitic myths and conspiracy theories. This includes frequent references to Jews having undue power through their 'control' of major institutions such as media networks, the economy or the government."
Similar flier distributions have occurred elsewhere in the country including Maryland, California and Florida. As in those states, the fliers in the Twin Cities were in plastic bags weighed down with corn kernels so the bags could be tossed from vehicles without blowing away in the wind. . . .
