At Fox News 9, we found this headline of interest as a Gopher State transplant to South Dakota, Minnesota owns the lowest unemployment rate of any state — ever. Theo Keith reported on Monday:
Minnesota's 1.8% unemployment rate in June was the lowest ever recorded by a state over a half-century of recordkeeping.
State officials say the low jobless rate is mostly a good thing. But it means employers and hiring agencies need to do a better job connecting with people they've previously overlooked, they say. . . .
Red Lake Nation News excerpted a Star Tribune article in Minnesota's jobless rate is the lowest any state has ever had:
Minnesota has not only moved up a spot in the rankings to have the lowest unemployment rate in the nation. At 1.8%, it also now officially has the lowest of any state ever.
"Just think about that," said Steve Grove, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). "We have the lowest unemployment rate that has ever existed in the United States of America since that number has been recorded."
That's largely a good thing for workers, giving them options and putting upward pressure on pay and benefits. It's also forcing employers to look deeper into the labor pool for workers.

Nonetheless, the Rushmore State's governor still had her positive pants on in a July 22 South Dakota State News column, Governor Kristi Noem: Cautiously Optimistic: South Dakota’s Finances and the Future:
. . .South Dakota’s 2.3% unemployment rate is among the lowest in the nation and lower than before the pandemic. . . .
We have yet to see July 2020 data, so maybe we'll catch those rascally gophers.
In the meantime, Governor Noem continues to travel out of state. One upcoming trip:
