In our post earlier this week, Will Westrom family support for Rasmusson primary challenger ruffle MNSenate GOP unity?, we wrote about the primary battle Nathan Miller waged against endorsed Republican state senate candidate and one-term Minnesota House member Jordan Rasmusson.
If a post Thursday on the Facebook page Rocks and Cows of Minnesota is to be believed--as well as a separate Facebook post on a campaign supporter's page--Miller has announced he's mounting a write-in campaign in the general election.
There's nothing about the write-in campaign on Miller's campaign webpage nor on its Facebook page.
Miller lost the August Republican primary in Minnesota Senate District 48.41 % to Rasmusson's 51.59% of the vote. In voter numbers, that's 5,738 for Rasmusson, with 5,385 casting ballots for Miller.
From a Rocks and Cows Facebook post:
The following is an open letter to Candidate Rasmusson from Candidate Miller following the Senate District 9 Primary. To: Jordan Rasmusson. There are a few critical times in one’s life that define who and what we are or will become in the future. These moments can be an event, an experience, a decision or even a tragedy. How we handle these critical junctures in life defines much of our character, I have discovered that in the face of adversity is where we find the true worth of a man. The last several months have been a challenge, privilege and a lot of work for me, my family, friends, supporters and campaigners. I have learned much on this journey so far and continue to be impressed with the fire of truth that spreads here in Western Minnesota. Alas doing the right thing is not always the easy thing.I have to admit I honestly never thought I would be writing this letter to you, mostly due to not having ever planned to run for political office. However when you feel called or compelled to do something by the Lord it is imperative that we answer and do our best. I have taken some time to think about the way I conducted myself on the campaign trail attempting at all times to be honest, forthcoming and transparent with people to make sure they knew what they would be getting with a potential Senator Miller. I feel honesty to our constituents is our highest call after being beholden to our Divine Creator and being a diligent defender of our US and Minnesota Constitutions.Understanding that we are in a pivotal time in this country and state if we want to save it from the crushing debt, anti-God, anti-Constitution, and anti-American agenda that is being pushed on us, we need to unify. This will be a tall order in a republican party that clearly has a divide, maybe now more than it ever has. On one side we have the large number of America First People who are activated patriotic grassroots Americans. They are conservative, hardworking, liberty loving, and the stay off my lawn types. Many of whom have no time or love for the status quo, business as usual wing of the party and especially career politicians. The other side is the Establishment GOP with the money, the connections, the endorsements and the ‘do whatever it takes to maintain power’ attitude. This group really has a disdain for the aforementioned America first folks. They see us as expendable red pawns to be used on the chess board of politics, hoping we continue to toe the line and never observe how tilted the board truly is, so much so that the upper echelon always wins regardless of their red or blue affiliation. As a candidate in this race I am yet again formally requesting that an independent audit be performed of the original delegate and alternate list from the Ottertail County Republican Caucus on February 1st. A simple comparison of all 93 precinct’s original caucus rosters to the February 25th spread sheet that was created in a computer by the OTC Republican Credentials Committee (comprised of Mr. Eric Vergiels, Mrs. Emma Rasmusson, and Mr. Harry Merickel) must happen. I realize this will continue to be buried regardless of the fact that we have 26 names that were switched, changed and/or added out of only 30 investigated precincts. I hope moving forward you will be a stalwart for voter integrity, your votes to suppress this audit at the county level on multiple occasions has been duly noted. In the light of truth, accountability and transparency I ask you; what have you done for your county today?I can honestly tell you I do not want to be a politician. I am willing to serve in the capacity of a statesman who further advances the sacred cause of liberty. So the easy thing is to pack it up and go home. Quitting is enticing if it were not for my fiery desire of a freer republic for our posterity and a return to truth. I was hoping you would provide me with an avenue to walk away by leading the OTC BPOU down the path of an independent audit to clear things up, unite us and mend the broken trust. Your refusal to do so now puts me in a moral dilemma, a direct defiance of my conscience and a slap in the face to the 5385 America First Patriots who cast their vote with unwavering conviction on Aug 9th. I will never concede to nefarious actors in our elections. Therefore I must continue onward, I will not be going away and the campaign signs shall remain, continuing to multiply. On Nov 8th the people of SD 9 will have the option to write in their vote for honorable representation without being forced to extinguish the flame of truth that burns in their hearts. In Liberty,

Perhaps it's an elaborate hoax and we fell for it. Or maybe the Lord really is on Nathan Miller's side and he's a statesman?
