We last left the conservative tussle in Minnesota's Senate District 9 with Friday's The curious case of the Detroit Lakes Tribune correction about Rasmusson's broadband bill, which concluded with the Detroit Lakes' coverage of Nathan Miller's write-in campaign, launched after narrowly losing the Republican primary to the party-endorsed candidate.
Would Miller's write-in campaign be a spoiler that would whisk moderate DFL-endorsed candidate Cornel Walker into office?
In a Facebook video, Miller says that the district is home to motivated Republican voters, so many that they'd still out-number Democrats in November:
There's starting to be some pushback. In a letter to the editor of the Detroit Lakes Tribune, Jane McLandress writes in Support Jordan Rasmusson:
I am writing in support of Jordan Rasmusson, the endorsed republican candidate for the District 9 Minnesota Senate seat. Recently there have been unwarranted attacks on Jordan’s character and gross misrepresentations of his policy positions, and I would like to correct these mistruths. Jordan is an extraordinary person, highly qualified to represent the citizens of this district.
First and foremost, Jordan is a person of integrity. In his current role as our State Representative, he has a reputation among his peers in Saint Paul for being honest and trustworthy. I have known Jordan for many years – as one of his high school teachers in Fergus Falls, as a co-board member of our YMCA and as member of his previous campaign. In all instances Jordan has carried himself with decency and truthfulness.
Jordan has been a highly effective representative for his district. He has earned endorsements from the Republican Party of Minnesota as well as retiring state representative Bud Nornes, retiring state senator Bill Ingebrigtsen and current state legislator Jeff Backer. Other endorsements include Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and Care Minnesota. He has authored and supported bills to reduce taxes, improve public safety, help small businesses, support parents, and increase support for mental health. He also secured funding for local economic development projects in Fergus Falls, Pelican Rapids, Battle Lake, and Glendalough and Maplewood State Parks, to highlight a few.
It saddens me to hear misinformation disparaging Jordan’s integrity, his values, and his policy positions. This degrades the political process and does nothing to serve the people of our district. I encourage you to visit Jordan’s website at www.jordanrasmusson.com for accurate, complete, and truthful information. Base your decisions on facts, not on hearsay.
Well, that should settle it.
