After surviving the endless rotation of a Noem campaign ad that not only took Democratic gubernatorial Jamie Smith out of context, but unethically edited an interview, we literally laughed out loud at Governor Kristi Noem's response to her share of the New York Times article Bluestem wrote up in The mahogany table of destiny; or, Noem in Florida, closer to Lewandowski than Trump.
See Annie Todd's Fact Check: Did South Dakota governor candidate Jamie Smith actually say he wanted to raise taxes?.
Noem's response was as the old saying goes, enough to make a cat laugh. Slipperpaws, Little Bear, and the foster Ivan the Terrible all joined me.
Newsmax reports in Gov. Noem Calls NY Times 'Liars' for Out of Context Trump Quote:
South Dakota's Republican Gov. Kristi Noem called The New York Times "liars" Friday during a "War Room" podcast with Steve Bannon after the publication used a quote from her that seemed to be critical of former President Donald Trump and his decision to run for president again.
In a story published by the Times on Wednesday, Noem was quoted as one of several key nationwide GOP leaders that the publication said were "inching away" from Trump and his bid to regain the White House in 2024.
"If we narrow our focus there, then we're not talking to every single American," the Times reported Noem saying in an interview. "Our job is not just to talk to people who love Trump or hate Trump. Our job is to talk to every single American."
"The New York Times are liars," she said during the podcast. "What they printed is not what I said. What I said is that every single one of us, as Republicans, needs to be messengers. It's all of our jobs.
"President Trump is the only one running for president, who's the only one who has been president. He's obviously the leader of our party right now and he has a responsibility, but we all do, too."
Noem, who easily won reelection as governor in the midterm elections defeating Democrat Jamie Smith 62% to 35.2%, said that it is not just the responsibility of one person to get the GOP message out to voters. . .
Ah yes, quoting someone out of context is bad, Governor Noem
But there's more:
She also hinted that Republicans need to change campaign strategies after the lackluster performance that gave the party the slimmest of majorities in the House and losing the Senate to Democrats.
"[Republicans] are all responsible," she said. "We all failed in this election by not talking and telling our stories. What we did is what conservatives believe in, and it works."
She said instead of just "bashing" President Joe Biden for his failed agenda that has hurt the country, Republicans at all levels should have been promoting what they were doing to make people's lives better in whatever capacity they did.
"We did conservative things, and we know the benefits that come," she said.
That's hilarious from a governor whose campaign and party spent its cash on airtime and mailings tying Smith to Biden.
And there's that website the Noem campaign launched: Jamie Smith and his admiration for Joe Biden (jamieandjoe.com).
And at Dakota War College, there's the September 27 post, Kristi for Governor Launches New Ad: “Extreme Jamie Smith: Endangering Families”:
Today, the Kristi for Governor campaign launched a multi-week, six-figure ad buy for a new ad, “Extreme Jamie Smith: Endangering Families.”
“Extreme Jamie Smith wants complete government control over your family,” the ad begins. The ad highlights Smith’s support for mask and vaccine mandates; his support for Black Lives Matter and President Biden’s open border policies, which have led to higher crime and drug trafficking; and his support for policies that infringe on the 2nd Amendment. Each of these policies endanger South Dakota families.
“Jamie Smith is too extreme for South Dakota,” said Ian Fury, Communications Director at Kristi for Governor. “He continues to lie about his position on COVID mandates and his position on the 2nd Amendment, so this ad will bring the facts to the people of South Dakota.”

There's more, but I trust readers to get it. As for the few positive message ads, her claims about the ranking of South Dakota's economy, and her late-race spin to have always supported eliminating sales taxes on food were just fibbing.
But no she doesn't like liars.
Will she hold a public scourging of herself for her past practice of strategies she just deplored during a "War Room" podcast with Steve Bannon?
That show might make a dandy fundraiser and she wouldn't even have to leave the state to pull it off.
