Last week, Bluestem posted MN House 26A DFL primary: a look at both candidates' environmental action claims, part of a series of articles about the Winona-area DFL House primary. Now held by retiring representative Gene Pelowski, the seat may prove pivotal in the general election as to whether the DFL maintains its trifecta of power--and the ability to get stuff done--in St. Paul.
Monday morning, Bluestem Prairie received a PDF of a survey of candidate running in the district created by the Land Stewardship Project.
According to the email that accompanied the document embedded below, the organization-which maintains a Southeast Minnesota office in Lewiston --created the survey using this process:
. . .wanted to pass along the information we collected from the candidates following a survey we conducted with our members in the district. We asked our members – what do you want your next state representative to prioritize to build a just a farm and food system and thriving communities in Southeast MN? The main themes we heard back were -- the root causes of nitrate pollution while supporting small and midsized farmers, creating markets and resources for small and midsized farmers, consolidation and corporate control in our farm and food system. We sent these themes to the four candidates asking for a response in how they would address these issues and attached are there responses.
Here are the responses from DFL candidates Dwayne Voegeli and Sarah Kruger. Republican candidates Aaron Repinski (party endorsed) and Stephen Doerr did not respond to the query.

Some try to frame LSP as an evil metro organization, but group's Board of Directors can be viewed here.
Bluestem urges voters in the district to cast their ballots in tomorrow's primary, if they have not already done so.
