Last week, Bluestem republished a Minnesota Reformer article, DFL calls on GOP's Rep. Dotseth to suspend campaign after report of domestic assault.
The Star Tribune firstreported that the first-term lawmaker was arrested in 2008 after his now-ex-eife accused him of domestic abuse.
Closer to his home district, Macklin Caruso reports in the Pine Journal, Local GOP silent as DFL calls on Rep. Jeff Dotseth to suspend campaign over alleged domestic abuse:
KETTLE RIVER — DFL leaders are calling for Rep. Jeff Dotseth, R-Kettle River, to suspend his reelection campaign, and local Republican leaders remain publicly silent after reports of alleged domestic abuse that resulted in Dotseth's arrest 16 years ago were unearthed.
Earlier this week, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported that Dotseth was arrested in 2008 for misdemeanor domestic assault, which was detailed in an affidavit from Dotseth’s ex-wife in divorce filings from 2008.
Dotseth issued a statement denying the allegations but declined to answer questions from the Pine Journal.
"More than 15 years ago I went through an extremely difficult divorce and child custody dispute," the statement said. "There were extremely hurtful allegations made against me that I deny, including a sworn affidavit I filed under oath under penalty of perjury.”
. . . Republican Party leaders in the area represented by Dotseth are not commenting. Multiple efforts by the Pine Journal to contact leaders with the Carlto County Republicans, as well as Pine County Republicans and the St. Louis County Republicans, about Dotseth were unsuccessful. Republican Sen. Jason Rarick, who represents the same constituents as Dotseth in the Minnesota Senate, declined to comment. . . .
